Reading
Divya likes to read. She has read a good number of books both in English and in Malayalam. She is not a big fan of "quality reading". As a result, she reads Basheer and Muttathu Varki alike. She is more onto reading prose than poems. Her aunt Omana Amma (Divya calls her Omana Mámi) is a poetess and Divya used to be the first one to read some of her poems. Divya says Omana Mámi takes her comments seriously.

Talking
Divya likes to talk. Neither she nor I thinks that it's a bad thing. One of her cousins used to call her "Chilappathikáram". (Chilappu in Malayalam means talking, though I argue that Chilappu is best translated to talking nonsense).

Movies and Songs
Divya likes watching movies. She likes watching English, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam movies especially romantic comedies and 'thrillers'. We both don't really appreciate action movies though. Divya likes all sorts of music especially those with a melodious flavor.

Cooking
Divya enjoys cooking if she is left alone and if she is in the best of her moods. She has short-listed a bunch of Guinea pigs in Seattle including me.

Pets
Divya has an aquarium at home.  She has a pet parrot (which apparently never speaks a word but whistles and bites), and a bunch of multi-color lovebirds (which I hope to set free someday). I may be too late for this rescue act as news from Trivandrum says that they are being starved to death by Manoj, my brother-in-law.

Others
Divya sings a bit. May be everyone sings like this, or may be not. She plays Veena, though she is not a professional at it. Divya has a reasonably good collection of stamps and coins and was a member of Philatelic Society in Trivandrum.
