I am a postgraduate in Computer Science from School of Computer Science, Mahatma Gandhi
University, Kottayam, Kerala.
I have my graduate degree in Mathematics from Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram
(Trivandrum). I did my Pre-University course (or PDC-Pre Degree Course) also
in Mar Ivanios. Mar Ivanios
college is affiliated with the University of Kerala.
I studied in 5 different schools before getting my Secondary School
Certificate. Govt. Muslim LPS Navaikulam, Govt. LPS
Puliyoorkonam, Govt. UPS Ponganad,
NSSHS Madavoor, and Raja Ravi Varma Boys' HS Kilimanoor have my name in their alumni registry.
I spent almost 8 years of my life in hostels, right from 1987 to 1995.
My studies (for now) ended with my Masters (I am quite happy with that), and
without much job-hunting, I got employed in Siemens Communication Software Limited (now Siemens
Public Communications Networks Limited), in Bangalore. In Bangalore, known as
the Garden City of India, I was living in a rented house near Murugesh Palya, very near to
the Bangalore Airport. We had eight of our MSc
classmates (we called ourselves 'Utkalikans' as the
house name was Utkalika) living together in that
house. In the second year of our Bangalore episode, we moved to a much bigger
house with four big bedrooms and a recreation room and a room to play
cricket! Now, all of those eight are in the US (of course in different
places).
A little about my life so far in the US. Landed in Edison, NJ on March 17,
1998. I was a Software Consultant with Dow Jones & Co., Princeton, NJ till May 28, 1999.
Joined Microsoft as a
Developer Support Engineer on June 1, 1999.
Something about my family: My father late Shri VC
Pillai is a retired Deputy Director of Survey, and Sreedevi
Amma, my mother, is a retired schoolteacher. I have
two younger brothers: Ullas
(working as a senior manager with Zarlink in Singapore), and Abhilash (also in
Singapore). Ullas is married to Uma, and they have
a beautiful daughter Urmila.
Divya and I got engaged on the 25th of March 2001 and got
married on 11th of November, 2001.
